Update OptiMail 30 Rate Card
Important! How to Insert Rate Card
When inserting cards into the OptiMail 30:
1. Push in gently, then stop when you feel resistance.
2. Wait for the screen’s hour glass to disappear.
3. Then push the card completely into the slot.
How to Update Rates
NOTE: RateGuard customers receive rate updates free. If you do not have RateGuard, you will be charged a one-time fee.
Choose one of the following three rate update options:
1. Update via Analog Phone Line
If you use an analog phone line to download postage on your OptiMail 30, you can update your postal rates electronically.

Connection Problems: Due to the large number of customers attempting to download rates simultaneously, you may experience a busy signal when attempting to connect via phone line. Please continue to retry until you successfully download and update your rates.
2. Update via Internet using MailCredit software connection
If you have MailCredit software in your rental package, you can download new rates over the Internet through your computer, which in turn will update the OptiMail 30 machine. You can purchase the MailCredit software for an additional fee if you don’t already own it.

3. Update with Rate Card
OptiMail 30 customers who are unable to download rate updates electronically should complete the rate card order form.
Verify the Update
If your rate update was successful, your equipment will activate the new rates on the rate change effective date. You can verify that the update was successful by checking your equipment’s rate table version number on or after the effective date.

To verify that your new rates have been successfully applied, follow the instructions in OptiMail 30 Addendum to Operators Manual (PDF).
External Scale
If you use an external scale to calculate postage, see External Scales Postal Rate Updates for instructions on updating your scale’s rates in addition to your OptiMail 30 machine.
Memories & Shortcuts
After the effective date of the new postage rates, you may need to manually update any programmed memories to the new rates. The memories will not automatically update.

When to Update Your Rates
When FP makes the rate update available to customers, you may update your rates, even if it’s prior to the USPS effective date. Rates are stored in your machine and automatically activate on the rate change effective date.

- Make sure you’re using a dedicated analog phone line. Cannot be DSL, VOIP or any form of digital phone system.
- Check dialing parameters in Menu to ensure number is formatted correctly, including a dialing prefix to obtain an outside line.
