Francotyp and Postalia were founded as separate postage meter companies in Germany in the late 1920s. After many successful years as independent organizations, Francotyp and Postalia became part of the $6.1 billion Rochling Group, one of Germany's 50 largest industrial enterprises, in 1989.

In 1993, the two companies merged, with Postalia changing its name to Francotyp-Postalia. The merger strengthened the development of new technologies that would solve customer mailing problems by providing total business solutions.

The transformation continued in 1994 with Franoctyp-Postalia centralizing its $50 million manufacturing, engineering and corporate center in Germany. In 1996, Francotyp-Postalia - U.S.A entered the high-volume mailing industry with the introduction of the M-Series mailing systems.

In the 21st century, Francotyp-Postalia - repositioned as FP Mailing Solutions - continues to enjoy its role as a technological leader.
